This web site is built around the book, A Shantz Family in Canada 1800-2000: Ancestors and Descendants of Samuel Y. Shantz, written by Lester B. Shantz in 1997.  As an addendum, Paul Gingrich wrote Shantz Farms in 2020.  

A Shantz Family provides information on the ancestry of Jacob E. Shantz, son of Samuel Y. Shantz, with detailed information on descendants of Jacob E. and Lydia Shantz.  Click on the buttons below to read.

This site is maintained by Cheryl Shantz,daughter of Lester B. Shantz, and by Paul Gingrich, a grandson of Ervin Shantz.

Map of Freeport area in 1861, then named Bridgeville.  Lot 13, then owned by Elias B. Snyder, became the home for Shantz farms in 1877 and for a century after.
